Due to the mandated implementation of Electronic Medical Records by 2014, Valarie has spent the past several years researching EMR programs and how it will impact physician practices. Implementing such a vast change to the practice will impact the practice in ways even the vendors selling the EMR's may not have considered.
Before choosing an EMR, be sure you have done your homework. Get everyone involved in the process. Talk with other practices who have already implemented an EMR for "lessons learned." Review your paper workflow and streamline it for as much efficiency as possible before implementing your EMR.
